This unit is the my very first project at the Manchester Fashion Institute studying BA(Hons) Fashion Design & Technology: Womenswear. For this project, I was inspired by Mod Culture, 1960's patterns and Op Art. As this unit is focused on renewing and refreshing the White Shirt, so I wanted to mix 1960's & Op Art elements. I also visited The Platt Hall Gallery and the Manchester Art Gallery, where I got most of my inspiration from. I also wanted to explore and experiment with new technology so I created an Op Art Repeat Pattern from a piece of artwork at the Manchester Art Gallery. Overall, I was happy with my final garment as I thought this conveyed my idea and my concept. To improve tho, I think I would have to improve my garment construction skills as the sewing was average.
