OUTERWEAR: URBAN PELOTON
This project the garment that was my main focus was the Trench Coat. I researched into the history of the trench coat and what its main use was during WW1. I then analysed the different features of the trench coat such as the epaulettes, the storm flap and the cuffs. This gave me a strong idea of where I can develop the traditional trench coat to make it my own.
For this unit my main focus was looking at city living and commuting. The Urban Peloton is commuting in a city on a bicycle and it is like a race with everyone else.
I chose Paul Smith as when Paul Smith was growing up he aspired to be a professional cyclist and channels that passion into his collections. As well, I am particularly fascinated by the shape, the style and the colours of the garments are. All his collections are fun, exciting and quirky which is what I would like to channel in my work.
My ideal consumer is male, aged 24-35 and is passionate about their health and interested in different, healthy foods. They enjoy socialising in small bars and pubs and has a good work ethic.
