FASHION PRODUCTION: SAILING X SHIBARIAN ROPE ART
During February 2019, I visited Porto, Portugal and was particularly inspired by the marina. Therefore, the concept for this unit is Sailing & Shibarian Rope Art. My main focus is to develop a garment suitable for sailing and is designed to fit the customers needs. As I wanted to make my garment functional and suitable for sailing, I explored different techniques such as creating 100% waterproof seams, using waterproof fabric and experimenting with rope and elastics cord.

FINAL GARMENT PHOTOSHOOT
For my final garment, I added rope piping into the sleeve areas to reference the theme of Shibarian Rope Art and sailing, and as well as aesthetic I wanted my garment to have a practical element of adjusting the sleeves with elastic cord to edit the overall look of having sleeves loose and hanging or pulled back to create a ruched effect on the sleeves. The coat is oversized with embroidery detail on the back to represent sails of a boat. The coat has a cargo pocket on the front with two welt pockets with flaps on either side. The cargo pocket also has a logo saying 'Randles Sailing' which has been sublimation printed and was designed by myself.
