For this unit, we picked two different subcultures and combined them together to create a new, fresh, fun collection. The first subculture I picked was the 'Rave' Subculture, I really wanted to include bright, neon colours, wavy patterns and prints in this collection to represent the culture. Especially since studying in Manchester, I wanted to pay homage to the classic 80's & 90's Rave, inspired by the Hacienda.

The second subculture I picked was Pachuco. I was first drew to this subculture as I loved the masculine style of the garments, showing that they meant business and that they were in power. The 'Zoot Suit' being famous for oversized jackets, and large, baggy trousers became an instant recognisable style around America. Initially I knew very little about Pachuco culture, so this was a fantastic opportunity to really research and gain a full understanding of the history of the culture.
